What is the Industry Specialist (Is.) certification?

Known in Bahasa Malaysia as Pakar Industri and abbreviated Is., the Industry Specialist designation is a national professional accreditation established by MPPM under Clause 4(i) of its 2022 Constitution.

Per MPPM's official statement, the certification is conferred upon individuals who have demonstrated exceptional competence and experience within their respective industries, formally recognising their contributions to the industry, to their profession, and to national development. Applicants must have accumulated at least 5 years of professional experience in their industry, and must pass review by MPPM's Assessment Panel.

MPPM itself was established on 21 July 2022 and has become a significant institution in Malaysia's business empowerment landscape. Its international network currently spans 11 countries, including Thailand, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkiye, and Myanmar — a growing regional platform for professional accreditation and business empowerment.

The 2026 conferment ceremony was held on the afternoon of 23 July 2026 at Dewan Tun Ismail, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, with Lounge Suit / Formal dress code. The ceremony was chaired by MPPM President Prof. Is. Dr. Zam @ Ab Razak Zamri, who guided the formal proceedings. In the presence of the Governor of Melaka, recipients from each field were conferred their certifications in turn.

For Dr Lim, this marked the first time that his more than two decades of professional accumulation in Malaysia's health industry has been formally recorded under a specific national professional designation — Industry Specialist. The certification is both a recognition of past contributions, and a marker of continuing responsibility in the field ahead.

What this certification means

The Industry Specialist certification is conferred upon Dr Lim as an individual. It recognises a person's professional accumulation, not a brand's product claims.

This includes continued refinement of the Essence Extraction process, batch consistency control, and the international patent framework (China and PCT applications already filed).

Public education — communicating with the public across Malaysia and Singapore, from a more rigorous professional platform, about porcupine bezoar, the modernisation of traditional health resources, and rational, evidence-informed health decisions.

The Industry Specialist certification is valid until 22 July 2027, with annual renewal procedures under MPPM's rules.
